Anuradhapura

Anuradhapura is the 1st kingdom of the ancient civilization of Sri Lanka which was lasted for more than 12 centuries. The signs of the Golden era of country still is grasped. Apart from the leftover ruins in the area it is mainly famous for Buddhist secret temples and statues. Number of massive Buddhist stupas and water tanks in the area got historical stories for each. There 12 out of 16 “Solosmasthana” which are the places considered as the Lord Buddha visited to Sri Lanka is placed around Anuradhapura which made the place to be the most visited local pilgrimage place in Sri Lanka. During the times of Full moon poya days the place can be overcrowded.
